What you get
A pop-up steam tent designed in the UK by an NHS doctor. Runitude puts its materials through independent lab tests for fumes, and the 1,000 W touchscreen steamer is matched to a compact tent so it heats quickly. It comes with an inner foot mat and a fleece floor mat to protect carpets.
It takes about 2 minutes to set up and fits 1 person, sitting upright. Lab-tested for fumes and plastics smell, and two floor mats protect carpets. On the downside: compact tent, tight for tall users.
The heat
A steam tent pumps steam from a separate generator into an insulated tent. The air usually sits at around 45 to 50°C, but because it is humid it feels much hotter than that, and most people are sweating within ten minutes. Open a window or run a fan afterwards to clear the moisture.
Running costs
The Runitude tent is rated at 1,000 W. Running at full power for 30 minutes uses 0.50 kWh, which is 13p a session at 26.32p per kWh (Ofgem price cap, Oct to Dec 2026), or about £20 a year at three sessions a week. It will usually cost less, because the heater cycles on and off once it is hot. Work out your own cost.
